Programs & courses list

Tips for selecting
courses & programs

  • Course lists can be found within a program
  • If you’d like to take only one or two courses within a program, please confirm with the department advisor
  • Some programs, such as trades, do not allow students to take courses without enrolling in the program
  • For application and registration information, visit the important dates page
  • In addition to academic courses, there are also continuing studies courses
  • Please note: All entrance requirements are subject to minor changes
Open Studies

Open Studies allows you to take university-level credit courses from a variety of subject areas and disciplines, for:

  • professional development
  • upgrading post-secondary qualifications
  • general interest

Through Open Studies, you can earn up to six credits in each term (typically two courses) without being enrolled in a program.

Credits earned may be considered toward a future degree or diploma. To receive a credential, you will be required to apply, and be accepted, to a program.

How to register for Open Studies

Open Studies is available to everyone.

A valid student account will be required to register. To obtain a student account please call the Admissions Office at 867 668 8710, email, or visit the Admissions Office at the Ayamidgut campus.

Once your student account is created you can register online.

Please note: You must meet course pre-requisites and may need a program advisors approval to register for a course.

Transfer credits

Transfer credits allow you to use previous educational experience gained toward a new credential at a different institution.  That means, for example, that you can take some credits at Yukon University and then transfer those credits to a program at another university or college, allowing you to complete your program requirements more quickly.

Provincial transfer agreements

Yukon University is an approved member of both the British Columbia Council on Admissions and Transfer (BCCAT) and the Alberta Council on Admissions and Transfer (ACAT). These transfer systems allow most credits at Yukon University to be transferred to any public university or college in BC or Alberta. For detailed information on where you can transfer YC credits, please see the BC Transfer Guide and the Alberta Transfer Guide.

Block transfer

Yukon University has block transfer agreements with other institutions, allowing you to transfer all of the credits from your program, as a block, to a program at another college or university. Check with your Yukon University Program Advisor for block transfer options.

Individual course transfer

Colleges and universities across Canada (and around the world) will generally give you credit for courses taken at Yukon University. The type of transfer credit you receive will be determined by the Registrar at the institution to which you’re applying. If you run into problems transferring any Yukon University course, contact the appropriate Yukon University school chair for advice and assistance.

Dual admission

Yukon University also has a dual admission agreement with Thompson Rivers University in the areas of Liberal Arts, Science and Business Administration. For complete information, please see the informational PDF and application form.
