Centre for Innovation in Mining (CNIM), Yukon University’s Continuing Studies Division Heavy Equipment Rural Operator (HERO) program provides hands-on training that builds skills progressively, from small equipment to larger and more advanced heavy machinery. Our courses combine classroom learning, simulation, and practical equipment operation to help learners develop safe and confident operating skills. Training opportunities can include skid steers, mini excavators, loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, rock trucks, and other industry equipment. Courses are designed to support new operators, experienced workers looking to upgrade their skills, employers, and communities across Yukon. HERO prepares learners for employment and continued training in construction, mining, road maintenance, infrastructure, and other resource-based industries.
Invest in your workforce and build your organization’s capacity for heavy equipment operations.
Through the Centre for Northern Innovation in Mining (CNIM), Yukon University’s Continuing Studies division offers contract training that combines theory, simulation and practical, in-cab experience. Participants develop the foundational skills and confidence needed to operate heavy equipment safely and productively in a controlled learning environment.
Using curriculum developed by YukonU and NORCAT, training can include simulation on rock trucks, loaders, dozers, excavators and graders. Employers are responsible for providing the equipment required for in-cab training.
Training can be tailored to your organization’s needs. Pricing varies depending on the equipment and training required—contact us to learn more.
