Nakwaye Ku Daycare

Daycare

Located at Yukon University, Ayamdigut Campus, Nakwaye Ku Daycare is a non-profit centre with a bright, open setting providing a great space to foster a “learning through play” philosophy.

Programming is developed through observed interests and involving children in a variety of activities.  Mutual respect and genuine caring must be present for a meaningful relationship to develop.

Nakwaye Ku staff develop fun and inclusive programming for each of their groups, such as circle time and art activities.  Working together as a team,  staff share the responsibilities of planned and free play activities (indoor and outdoor), gym and cleaning.

Enrollment

Child care services at Nakwaye Ku are available to children of the general public, including Yukon University students, staff, faculty.

The Centre is licensed for 36 children aged 18-months to pre-kindergarten. This allows for:

  • two toddler groups of six children with two staff*, and
  • three preschool groups of eight children with 3 staff

*In most cases, the toddler group runs at least one to two children below maximum capacity.

Information for Parents & Families

Nakwaye Ku believes that an important part of the service they  provide is the relationship that is developed with the families. The staff share information with the parents about their child’s day and parents are welcome to use the observation windows at any time to observe their children.

The daycare posts information for parents beside the entrance door and emails a monthly newsletter.
