“Being a student here meant being someone better than you thought you could ever be. Learning about yourself, learning about others, learning about the world, finding passion, and doing something that you're proud of.”

Turning passion into purpose.

Graduating with honours in 2025, Wally’s connection to the university has come full circle. He is now working as an integral member of the First Nations Initiatives team.

Many of us can relate when Wally says he discovered, “I’m not dumb, I was just not doing something that I was interested in.” Through his studies, he discovered a passion for learning about topics such as language revitalization, land claims, and colonization.

Wally’s journey is rooted in finding purpose in his work, reminding others that success often comes from discovering what truly inspires you and doing something you can be proud of.
