NATR CE03 - Map & Compass: Orientation, Navigation & Terrain Awareness

Ever found yourself in a position where your GPS failed? Or wondering "Wait… where am I?" even on a familiar trail?

This practical, two-day course builds the skills and confidence to understand your surroundings and move through the landscape with intention. Beginning with orientation and knowing where you are, you’"l learn how to read topographic maps, interpret terrain, and use a compass to support your decisions while traversing the land. From there, you will explore how to plan routes, travel across varied terrain, and adjust for changing conditions.

Grounded in real-world Yukon conditions, this course emphasizes hands-on learning, including outdoor exercises where you’ll apply your skills in a supportive environment.

Whether you are hiking, hunting, or spending time on the land, you"ll leave with practical tools to help you get there and home again safely.
