NATR CE02 - Yukon Wildlife Sounds II: Sharing Nature's Soundscape
Designed as a follow-up to NATR CE01 - Yukon Wildlife Sounds: An Introduction to Bioacoustics, this one-day interactive course explores how wildlife sounds can be shared and interpreted in diverse and creative ways—from research and education to movies, music, meditation, and healing. Participants will discover how natural sounds have been used (and sometimes misused) across industries, with lively examples that highlight the difference between dramatic effect and authentic representation.
Through guided discussion and practical exploration, you’ll gain insight into the growing global movement toward authenticity in sound and learn how natural soundscapes can be thoughtfully and ethically shared to inspire curiosity and connection to the natural world.

While Yukon Wildlife Sounds I: Introduction to BioAcoustics is not a required pre-requisite; participants should have prior experience or familiarity with natural sound data collection, and a foundational understanding of sound recording and handling sound files.

- This course will largely be indoors, but will include a practical session where participants are encouraged to create art using natural sound that is pre-recorded or recorded on-site. Please come prepared to spend time outside and dress appropriately for Yukon weather conditions.
- Additionally, the analysis and presentation of the sound data will use computer software and phone apps. It will be helpful, although not mandatory, to bring along a laptop computer, phone, and headphones.
