JUST 033 - Residential Schools Awareness
Residential School Awareness session is intended primarily for frontline workers in any field who want to build their awareness and understanding of Residential Schools in Yukon. Participants are introduced Residential School Survivors and Intergenerational Survivors who share their experiences through story telling, the impact of those experiences and equally important, the turning point in their life, and their healing journey they are on today. During the session there will also be some time for dialogue. The workshop's was designed to provide a safe, supportive environment for people from various backgrounds can openly and respectfully listen, ask and learn about experiences and impacts of children that attended Yukon Residential Schools.
This program was originally developed with the NISJ by CYFN Resolution Health Support Workers, the Committee on Abuse in Residential Schools (CAIRS), and the Liard First Nation Resolution Health Support Worker. This is not a training program; the focus is on providing an opportunity to build awareness.
