New Board of Governors chair and member announced

Christine Mahar was appointed Chair of Yukon University's Board of Governors

Whitehorse, YT – Yukon University Board of Governors has a new chair. Christine Mahar has accepted the role, following appointment by Order in Council. During her career she held several senior-level finance positions in Government of Yukon. She retired from assignment as Deputy Minister of Finance prior to her appointment to the Yukon University Board of Governors in 2020. Mahar was previously the Board’s Vice Chair and chaired its Governance Committee.

In addition to Mahar, Yukon University welcomes the appointment of Carolyn Relf and re-appointment of Tom Ullyett to the Board of Governors. Relf retired from a career in the public service, most recently serving as Director of the Yukon Geological Survey.

Outgoing chair David Morrison served as Chair from 2020 until his second term expired last month. Morrison led the Board through a remarkable time – from its transition to a University, passage of the first Strategic Plan, commencing the Polaris Project and strengthened governance systems. The University thanks David for his dedication and the legacy of leadership he leaves with the Board.
