Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) +

imageYukon SPOR Support Unit is funded through a 5 year operating grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).  There is a SPOR unit in every province except Nunavut (which is currently in development).  Our unit is supported by partnerships with Indigenous and non-Indigenous governments, as well as NGOs to connect people with lived experience and communities with research/researchers that are important to them.

The unit provides researchers and patients/communities with tools to conduct co-created health research.  Yukon SPOR collaborates with many other national SPOR entities and research partners across Canada.

Our vision is that “Yukon is a recognized leader in co-created health research, grounded in partnership among Indigenous and non-Indigenous government and non-government institutions, that brings together all ways of knowing to help Yukoners face our shared challenges, leading to an improved patient experience and improved health outcomes for all residents.”

We focus on community led projects that privilege Indigenous knowledge.
