Jan 22 student update: planning for potential strike in March

Dear Students,

Based on the results of their recent strike vote, the Yukon University Employees’ Union will be in a legal strike position on March 2, 2026.

In our Monday correspondence, we committed to providing a followup on the potential for labour action to interrupt instructional time.

At their regular monthly meeting on Jan 21, the Academic Senate discussed implications of a potential strike on student learning.

Senate decided it needs more time to explore scenarios associated with potential disruption to instruction resulting from possible labour action. Senate will do this work through its committees in preparation for its February meeting.
