PLMB 100 - Maintenance Plumbing

This course provides instruction in basic plumbing concepts, tools, and how to perform
basic plumbing maintenance tasks with a focus on needs particular to Northern
communities. Students will learn about plumbing systems, septic systems,
maintenance and cleaning of home water tank systems, water testing, and basic
repairs and installations. Emphasis will be placed on safe practices when engaging in
plumbing tasks, how to recognize problems, and when to engage a certified plumber.
Students will apply their classroom learning to housing maintenance projects in their
own communities and participate in a community of practice in which they will share
their learning experiences with fellow learners and connect housing maintenance to
overall community and personal wellness.
