PHED 222 - Northern Outdoor Pursuits and Leadership 1

This course introduces participants to various late summer and fall outdoor pursuits, which may include canoeing, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking and/or survival skills. Instruction focuses on the principles of outdoor leadership, team building, decision making and risk management in a northern environment. Students will develop knowledge and skills for leading group activities in the northern outdoors. Ancillary fee: $350.

* There is a mandatory weekend camping trip during the term. The class schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions and availability of resources.

NOTE: Students in Aviation Management, Northern Outdoor and Environmental Studies, and Northern Studies will have priority. Students will need registration approval from the instructor. Please contact Rodney Hulstein at rhulstein@yukonu.ca.
