This course introduces pluralistic research methodologies—approaches that recognize multiple ways of knowing (including Indigenous, culturally grounded, participatory, and creative/arts-based methods) alongside conventional qualitative and mixed-method tools. Unlike many Western methodology courses that prioritize researcher-defined questions, detached observation, and standardized measures, this course emphasizes relational ethics, reciprocity, context, and community benefit. Students will learn to co-define questions with stakeholders, select culturally appropriate designs , and assess rigor through credibility, cultural validity, and practical utility. The course is ideal for applied inquiry in education, human services, program evaluation, community-based research, and other public sector areas.
