Introduction to Northern Research is a course designed to provide background training in science and research, while preparing students with employment skills for Research Assistant positions in Northern research projects.

This course will introduce students to research methods through classroom, lab and field based activities. The focus of the course will be on the safe, accurate and ethical collection, analysis and communication of research data. Both traditional knowledge and scientific methodology will be incorporated into the course.

The course will be delivered as a hands-on learning experience in various settings including the classroom, computer lab, laboratory and on the land (field). The course will include lectures, videos, guest speakers, laboratory experiments, computer work and field (on the land) work.
