MATH 051A - Introductory Algebra Part 1
This course provides a comprehensive review of foundational math skills essential for success in algebra. Topics include fractions, decimals, percents, graph interpretation, real numbers, algebraic expressions, linear equations and inequalities, exponents, polynomials, and factoring, including solving quadratic equations. Emphasis is placed on building confidence and fluency with core concepts to support future mathematical learning. This course will prepare students for Math 051B.
Math 051 A and Math 051B together are equivalent to Math 051 or Foundations of Mathematics 11 or Advanced Developmental Mathematics in the BC Adult Basic Education (ABE) Articulation Handbook.
Prerequisite(s): Minimum of 65% in Math 030 or Foundations of Mathematics and Pre-Calculus 10 or equivalent, or suitable scores on the math placement assessment.
