HET 301 - Hydraulics

This course focuses on the fundamentals of hydraulic pumps, cylinders, and motors. An equal focus is placed on both the theory and practice of hydraulics diagnosis, service, and repair.

The theory covered in the course will enable students to explain the principles of hydraulics, the differences between several types of hydraulic pumps, the operating principles of hydraulic cylinders and motors, the operation and service of various control valves, and the operation of common mobile equipment and electrically controlled hydraulic systems. Students will also perform several hands-on tasks including servicing various hydraulic pumps, cylinders, and motors. Performing visual inspections and operational tests, as well as determining hydraulic system faults will be key practical components of the course.
