FINA 050 - Beadwork

The focus of this course is to explore traditional and contemporary beadwork techniques of North America. Students will complete projects using three main styles of beadwork: loom, lazy stitch and appliqué. A number of related bead-working techniques will also be presented: edge beadwork, brick stitch, beaded fringe and peyote stitch. Students will use these beadwork skills and apply quality-control standards to make a bracelet, a small bag, and a key chain. Students will also complete a bead chart and sample charts of beadwork techniques.
