ENVM 097 - Contaminated Sites: Assessment and Remediation

This course integrates and applies environmental monitoring field skills and focuses on exploring contaminated sites. Students will be introduced to Environmental Site Assessments for suspected contaminated sites and related Yukon regulations. Students will develop employment skills and job-related resources. Both Western and Indigenous perspectives and ways of knowing will be explored, using Northern and culturally-relevant examples.

The course is delivered in a remote camp setting and involves nine consecutive days of hands-on participation from students. Land-based activities will be used to develop skills relevant to beginning a career in environmental monitoring and to develop skills required for remote field work.
