This course introduces physical earth sciences and develops related monitoring and sampling techniques. Students will practice skills and professional attitudes required for success in the field. Western and Indigenous perspectives and ways of knowing will be explored, using Northern and culturally-relevant examples.
The course is delivered in a remote camp setting and involves nine consecutive days of hands-on participation from students. Land-based activities will be used to develop skills relevant to beginning a career in environmental monitoring and to develop skills required for remote field work.
