ENVM 094 - Aquatic Monitoring II

In this course, students develop an understanding of the biology of water and aquatic systems and learn about related monitoring and sampling techniques. Students will practice skills and professional attitudes required for success in the field. Western and Indigenous perspectives and ways of knowing will be explored with reference to Northern and culturally relevant examples. Additionally, First Nation instructors/elders will provide insight into First Nation relationships with the water and fish as well as First Nation experience managing fisheries resources.

The course is delivered in a remote camp setting and involves nine consecutive days of hands-on participation from students. Through land-based activities, students will develop skills necessary for a career in environmental monitoring as well as those required for remote field work.
