Environmental monitoring is a way to track change over time with respect to natural and human influence. This course explores multiple perspectives on the environment and environmental monitoring. The course develops employment skills and refines general field skills. Western and indigenous perspectives and ways of knowing will be explored, using Northern and culturally-relevant examples.
The course is delivered in a remote camp setting and involves nine consecutive days of hands-on participation from students. Land-based activities will be used to develop skills relevant to beginning a career in environmental monitoring and to develop skills required for remote field work.
