DIGW CE03 - Cyber Security Fundamentals

Cyberattacks, scams, and online fraud are increasingly common, and human error remains a significant security risk. This practical, small-group workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of cybersecurity and provides practical strategies for protecting personal information, finances, devices, and online accounts.
Participants will learn to:

- Recognize phishing emails, scams, spam, and other common cyber threats
- Identify personal vulnerabilities and assess potential risks
- Use essential security tools and safer Wi-Fi, device, and online practices
- Protect privacy and manage their digital footprint, including social media and mobile devices
- Understand how to report cybercrime and what to do if an attack occurs
- Recognize emerging threats, including AI-assisted scams and attacks

The course also explores cybersecurity planning, social media safety, privacy, and the ways cybercriminals can use publicly available information to target individuals. Participants will leave with practical steps and guiding principles they can apply in their everyday digital lives.
No previous experience is required. The workshop is designed to be accessible and interactive, with opportunities for participants to ask questions, share experiences, and learn from one another.
