This course will introduce students to the cultural and technological phenomena that have helped shape the accounting and finance disciplines. The course will explore the role of accounting and financial systems in the progress of civilization, from early trading societies through to modern cryptocurrency markets. To better understand developments in the field, students will study connections between religious and philosophical thinking, mathematical and technological advancements, and historical events.
