
Hazardous Materials Spill
A hazardous materials spill may involve chemicals or other dangerous substances that pose a risk to health and safety. Do not attempt to clean up a spill unless you are trained and authorized to do so.
If You Discover a Hazardous Materials Spill
Stay away from the spill and warn others in the area.
Notify Safety and Security Services or your instructor/supervisor immediately.
Move to a safe location and follow instructions.
After hours: Call the Yukon Spill Report Line (867-667-7244) and then notify Safety and Security Services.
If a Chemical Fire Occurs
Activate the nearest fire alarm.
Use a fire extinguisher only if the fire is small and you are trained to do so.
Evacuate the building following emergency evacuation procedures.
Close doors behind you if it is safe to do so.
Do Not
Do not Touch or attempt to clean up the spill unless authorized.
Do not Break windows, as fresh air can intensify a fire.
Do not Re-enter the building or leave the muster area until instructed by emergency responders.
