Evacuation

Evacuation is required when a fire alarm sounds or when directed by Safety and Security Services, emergency responders, or Fire Wardens. Leave the building immediately and follow instructions.

During an Evacuation

  • Stop work and leave the area immediately.
  • Close doors behind you but do not lock them.
  • Use the nearest safe exit or follow posted evacuation routes.
  • Do not use elevators.
  • Follow directions from Fire Wardens (wearing safety vests/helmets and carrying radios).
  • Assist anyone who requires help evacuating.
  • Proceed to the designated Muster Point and remain there.
  • Do not re-enter the building until the "All Clear" is given.

If You Cannot Evacuate

  • Move to a safe location and close doors between you and the hazard.
  • Call 911 and provide your exact location if possible.
  • Block smoke from entering under doors using clothing or fabric.
  • Stay low to avoid smoke and signal for assistance if needed.
