In the Pit with Peter Johnston
Join Peter Johnston and special guests (to be announced) for "In the Pit with Peter Johnston", a lunchtime conversation series at Yukon University, brought to you by the School of Indigenous Governance.
This new event series brings together students, staff, faculty, and community members across the north to explore Yukon land claims, self-government, and the broader issues shaping the North.
Each session will feature community guests joining Peter Johnston for an open, engaging discussion. Future guests will include Indigenous leaders, negotiators, policy experts, Elders, youth, and community advocates who have helped shape the Yukon we know today.
Together, we'll explore the history of Yukon land claims, self-government agreements, and current opportunities and challenges facing Northern and Indigenous communities.
With decades of leadership experience, including serving as Grand Chief of the Council of Yukon First Nations and Chief of the Teslin Tlingit Council, Peter brings deep knowledge, personal stories, and a welcoming style that makes these conversations accessible and engaging.
Our goal is simple: create a comfortable space to learn, ask questions, share perspectives, and connect across the Yukon University community and beyond.
Snacks and beverages will be available.
