YRC “Permafrost and Geoscience Research” conducts applied research about how permafrost thaw impacts people living in the North in various ways with a focus on transportation infrastructure in the north and how permafrost influences northern communities (here is the link to some of our research projects).

As a Permafrost Research Assistant, you will be working with a team conducting research, executing field data collection and lab analyses and experiments, and assisting with other aspects of permafrost-related projects.

The ideal candidate will have a university education and work experience in the following areas: scientific research in permafrost, geospatial analysis and remote sensing, program management and strong written/oral communication skills. Knowledge of field sampling techniques, geophysics and geomorphology of northern systems and technical skills applied to data processing with Excel, “R”, and ArcGIS will be required.

A combination of education and related experience may be considered.
