In keeping with this theme, we have partnered with Yukon University to provide employment opportunities where the successful applicant maintains a role in providing acute care services as well as a role as an Instructor providing theoretical lessons and supervising clinical placements that are facilitated though Yukon University practicum schedule.
As a multidisciplinary team member, the incumbent will maintain their YHC substantive position and perform the work assigned in their home department. The incumbent to be relieved from YHC work and will perform Instructor work assigned by Yukon University on average 17 weeks a year over two practicums. While with YHC, the incumbent will provide nursing care for patients through the administration and implementation of medical investigation and therapeutic programs through the application of knowledge of general nursing, physical health, and psycho-social well-being; provide organization, direction, supervision and collaboration in the planning and implementation of nursing best practices, including curriculum development and evaluation.
Qualifications
The successful candidate is required to have a Baccalaureate (ideally Master’s) Degree in Nursing, a minimum of (1) one year nursing experience; be currently registered with Yukon Registered Nurses Association (YRNA) and have current BLS certification.
Valid teaching certificate, instructor’s certification, or willingness to obtain same are desired.

• Knowledge of established practices and procedures of professional nursing care
• Knowledge of trends and developments in the nursing field
• Initiative, good judgment and reliability
• Advocacy and assertiveness skills
• Knowledge of instructional techniques, practices, and strategies in adult education including the use of distance learning methodologies
• Basic computer literacy
• Ability to teach nursing practices and other relevant clinical skills
• Ability to develop and implement nursing care/treatment/discharge plans
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity, commitment to incorporate Indigenous knowledge
• Effective interpersonal skills
