Yukon University is seeking a full-time Instructor, focused on practicum course delivery,
for its Early Learning (EL) program. In this role, you will deliver high-quality, community-connected education while collaborating with the program coordinator to ensure meaningful, well-structured practicum experiences that meet credentialing requirements. You will design and teach applied learning that bridges theory and practice, helping students build the competencies needed for careers in Early Learning and Child Care. As a key link between the university and community partners, you will foster strong relationships that support practicum placements across diverse settings, including rural communities, while providing mentorship and leadership to students and practicum mentors.

Key responsibilities include developing and instructing courses focused on practical Early Learning competencies, coordinating and securing practicum placements aligned with program timelines, and maintaining partnerships with community organizations and internal stakeholders. You will ensure placement environments meet professional standards, mentor students throughout their practicums, support practicum mentors, and work closely with the program coordinator to guide practicum-related decisions in line with Yukon University policies.

The position operates in both office and community settings, with frequent in-person and virtual interactions. Travel to rural communities is required (approximately 1–3 days per month), along with occasional physical tasks such as moving materials or classroom equipment.

Essential Skills and Qualifications
• Post-secondary degree in Early Learning and Child Care or a related field (Master’s preferred)
• Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching at the post-secondary level
• Minimum 2 years’ direct practice experience working with children and families using relational approaches
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in project or program coordination
• Demonstrated experience working within rural and community-based education models
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders
• Valid driver’s license

Yukon University is committed to the values of equity, diversity, and inclusion. All qualified persons are encouraged to apply; however qualified candidates who self-identify as Yukon first Nations, as well as Metis, Inuit or other Indigenous ancestry will be given priority.
