Are you passionate about community-based education and land-based learning? Do you thrive in cross-cultural environments and want to be part of an innovative, Indigenous-led bridging program? Yukon University, in partnership with Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in, is seeking a Community Adult Education Coordinator (CAEC) to support the Tr’odëk Hätr’unohtän Zho Bridging Year Program.

As the successful candidate, you will develop, coordinate, and deliver adult education courses that reflect First Nations pedagogies. Working closely with students, Elders, and the community, you will design responsive, culturally grounded programming by integrating classroom learning with on-the-land experiences while adapting curriculum to support learners with diverse needs and educational goals. Additionally, you will collaborate with the program Steering Committee, Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in representatives, and Yukon University departments to ensure the program meets its learning outcomes and support student success through individualized learning plans, regular assessments, and community-focused approaches.

Qualifications and Experience
• A degree in education or related field (adult education experience preferred).
• Experience working with First Nations learners and communities.
• Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, distance learning, and experiential education.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Respect for and understanding of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in culture, governance, and education values—especially Tr’ëhudè principles.
• Comfort working in diverse settings, including camp-based, land-based, and traditional classrooms.
Assets
• Valid teaching or instructor certification.
• Familiarity with TH Self-Government Agreement and Section 17.7 on education co-governance.
• Experience with program coordination and community development.

Yukon University is committed to the values of equity, diversity, and inclusion. All qualified persons are encouraged to apply; however qualified candidates who self-identify as Yukon first Nations, as well as Metis, Inuit or other Indigenous ancestry will be given priority.

Consideration may be given to candidates with the appropriate blend of education and experience.
