Yukon University is seeking an instructor to join the Centre for Northern Innovation in Mining (CNIM) for the delivery of Class 1-3 Driver Training in Whitehorse and Yukon communities. CNIM provides services to industry and training for students that are unique in the country, thanks to state-of-the-art facilities, mobile classrooms, and high-tech simulators. Our close access to working mine sites, reclamation, and mineral exploration areas gives students real-world experience.

The training offered by CNIM allows Yukon residents, and those wanting to live and work in Yukon, access to a variety of learning opportunities that are nationally recognized and uniquely customized for the North.

With your extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with air brakes, commercial driving, and commercial driver training, you will be conducting classroom, simulator, and in-truck training with curriculum, tractor, and trailer supplied by Yukon University. Holding an unrestricted Class 1 License, clean driving abstract, and safety record will be mandatory. You will maintain the highest safety standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience, 10 years or more, as a long-haul driver of a tractor/semi-trailer and/or tractor-two trailers. Teaching experience and/or teaching qualification will be considered an asset, as well as additional certificates of qualification in mechanical trades. Holding a MELT Commercial Driver Instructor Certificate with experience will be considered a strong asset. In the absence of a MELT Commercial Driver Instructor Certificate, a willingness to acquire MELT Commercial Driver Instructor Certification will be considered.

Yukon University is committed to the values of equity, diversity, and inclusion. All qualified persons are encouraged to apply; however qualified candidates who self-identify as Yukon First Nations, as well as Metis, Inuit or other Indigenous ancestry will be given priority.
