Are you a strategic leader passionate about innovation, workforce development, and community partnerships? Yukon University is seeking an experienced and dynamic Department Head, Centre for Northern Innovation in Mining (CNIM).
About the Role: Reporting to the Executive Director of Continuing Studies, the Department Head provides strategic direction and operational leadership to a diverse portfolio of non-credit, industry-relevant, and community-driven programs.

Key responsibilities include:
• Leading program development, staffing, and delivery in alignment with YukonU’s strategic goals
• Securing funding and fostering partnerships with government, industry, First Nations, and other educational institutions
• Overseeing budgets, contracts, and performance targets for a portfolio with annual revenues of $1.5–2M
• Supervising and mentoring a team of 2–9 term staff and 2–10 auxiliary or casual instructors
• Ensuring programs and services meet regulatory standards and community needs
• Building the profile of CNIM and Yukon University through active engagement and representation at territorial and national levels

Essential Qualifications:
• Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience
• Experience in program and staff management in a cross-cultural or community-based context
• Knowledge of adult education theory and delivery methods
• Knowledge of Industry labour and skill needs
• Strong budget development and financial management skills
• Demonstrated experience in proposal writing and securing funding
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills
• A valid Yukon driver’s license or equivalent

Desirable Assets:
• Knowledge of Yukon First Nations Land Claims and Self-Government Agreements
• Understanding of Yukon industries, especially mining and trades
• Familiarity with community education and development practices
