The University Navigator will play a vital role in assisting prospective students, including those from Indigenous communities, to explore and pursue post-secondary opportunities. Drawing on personal and professional knowledge of Indigenous communities and the experiences of Indigenous students, the Navigator will help create welcoming, responsive pathways into Yukon University.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and lead initiatives that support YukonU’s Strategic Enrolment Management Plan. The role will positively influence the admissions process by fostering adaptability, resilience, and continuous improvement, always grounded in the lived realities of Northern and Indigenous learners.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic, customer-service-oriented individual who is passionate about education and dedicated to helping students achieve their academic goals. They will be responsible for providing enrolment and general academic information to potential students, drawing on strong interpersonal and communication skills to advise on programs, admission requirements, application processes, funding options, career pathways, graduation requirements, and transfer opportunities. This breadth of knowledge will also allow the Navigator to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders across the University, including academic and service areas, in support of student success.
Responsibilities
The University Navigator will be responsible for assisting prospective students with the application process by engaging with them through various channels, including phone, email, and in-person consultations, to understand their educational needs and aspirations. This role will provide detailed information on program offerings, admission requirements, and financial aid options plus conduct thorough assessments of prospective students' qualifications and ensure all necessary documentation is submitted.
The University Navigator will also have strong problem-solving skills to help current and prospective students navigate complex student enquiries in program and service areas. They will collaborate with internal teams to ensure prospective students receive timely follow-ups and support throughout the enrolment process and maintain accurate records of interactions and progress in the enrolment management system, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
The University Navigator will be responsible for recruiting new students and promoting the University as an exciting option for post-secondary education by participating in outreach events, workshops, and community engagement activities to promote programs and attract potential students and working on projects related to the execution of the Strategic Enrolment Management Plan
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in any discipline
• 2+ years of experience in admissions, enrolment, or a customer-oriented role, preferably in the education sector. Preference will be given to those with familiarity with financial aid processes and a proven track record of meeting or exceeding enrolment goals
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM software.
• Ability to leverage technology for effective communication and engagement with prospective students.
• Proficient in using CRM systems and other technology tools to manage enrolment processes.
Consideration may be given to candidates with the appropriate blend of education and experience.
