Yukon University seeks an individual with energy and vision to fill the position of Manager, Infrastructure.
Reporting to the Director, University Infrastructure, the Manager, University Infrastructure plays a key leadership role in the planning, delivery, and oversight of university construction, renovation, and infrastructure initiatives. This position manages departmental operations, staff, budgets, and reporting while coordinating complex projects across multiple campuses and stakeholders.
The Manager supports key functional areas including:
• Space Management & Land Use Planning
• Campus Sustainability
• Infrastructure Projects
• Lease Administration
• Signage and Building Assessments
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate all construction and renovation projects across Yukon University campuses.
• Work closely with the Yukon Government on major capital projects, including contractor oversight and review of architectural and technical plans.
• Provide leadership and direction to Infrastructure Department staff, including performance management, budgeting, and annual work planning.
• Consult with client departments to determine renovation or new construction needs, including conceptual design, materials, costs, and schedules.
• Oversee the preparation of project sketches, drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Collaborate with Procurement to prepare tenders, evaluate bids, participate in contract negotiations, and support contract awards.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with contracts, codes, safety requirements, and project timelines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Required:
• Minimum of 3 years of direct project management experience.
• Experience managing budgets and financial tracking.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, renovations, and infrastructure planning.
Preferred / Assets:
• Degree or terminal certification in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
• Knowledge of the National Building Code and Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
• Familiarity with development and building permit processes (City of Whitehorse and Yukon Government).
• Experience with space planning concepts and tools (e.g., GIS Indoors, Survey123).
• Experience with work request management systems (e.g., Archibus).
Consideration may be given to those with an appropriate blend of education and experience.
