Laberge Renewable Resources Council Special Awards
The Laberge Renewable Resources Council wishes to make two $2,000 awards available to students in Yukon University's Environmental and Conservation Sciences, Renewable Resources Management or Northern Science programs in the Winter semester of 2024.
The Laberge Renewable Resources Council (LRRC) is the primary instrument for local renewable resources management for the Traditional Territory of the Ta'an Kwach'an Council, which includes the city of Whitehorse. The members of the LRRC must have resided in the Ta'an Kwach'an Council Traditional Territory for at least one year prior to their appointment and possess long-term familiarity with the renewable resources in the area.
The LRRC, acting in the public interest and consistent with their Final Agreement, may make recommendations to the Minister, Ta'an Kwach'an Council, the Fish and Management Board and/or the Salmon Sub-Committee on any matter related to the conservation of fish and wildlife. The LRRC makes provisions for public involvement in the development of its decisions and recommendations.
Eligibility
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person
- Be registered in Yukon University's Environmental and Conservation Sciences, Renewable Resources Management or Northern Science programs
- Provide a brief letter outlining:
- the reasons why you chose this program
- how the program will support your future plans
Requirements
- Indicate how long you attended, or if you graduated from, a Yukon high school
NOTE: First preference will be given to applicants who have graduated from a Yukon high school. Second preference will be given to applicants who have attended a Yukon high school.
